Orioles Card of the Day

Marv Breeding
Marc suffered from the sophomore jinx in 1961 after a fine rookie season in '60. Although his average dropped sharply, the second baseman still was one of the smartest fielders in the American League. The hustling infielder started in organized ball as a shortstop.

Name that player!

This 29 year old outfielder will be getting a taste of life in the American League in 1966. Carl can hit with power and was the Texas League's home run champion with Victoria in 1959.

A native of Baltimore, Bob led the Browns last year in Hits, Doubles and Placed 2nd in Team Batting. A clever fielder, he was runner-up among the A.L. 2nd Basemen in Putouts and Double Plays in '53. Bob broke in with Allentown in '46, played with Baltimore (I.L.) in '49 and '50 before joining the Browns (now the Orioles).

My Biggest Thrill In Baseball: In 1949 I was shot by a deranged girl. After I was released from the hospital, I was sent to Florida by the Phillies to see if I might recover enough to resume baseball. The schedule laid out for me was a nightmare. I was in a bad nervous condition, and I grew more depressed each day. Then I met a girl who knew a lot about human nature - who had faith in me. I went on to a good season, and the newspapers commended me for the "Comeback of the Year." (The girl who helped so much is now my wife.)
