Name that player!

JJ notched an extra-base hit in three of his first four starts for the Marlins in 2022, including his initial home run against Cincinnati on July 27. The former Vanderbilt standout flexed plenty of power on his way to Miami. He went deep five times in the 2021 Arizona Fall League before averaging one roundtripper every 15.1 at-bats at Triple-A.

Reuben N. Oldring, outfielder of the Philadelphia American League team, was born in New York City, May 20, 1884. In his early career he played semi-professional ball with the All-Nationals of New York. He became a professional in 1905, when he joined the Montgomery team of the Southern League. He was secured by the Athletics in 1906.

Sam's 1950 batting average was only .251, but his base knocks included 23 home runs. Sam is one of the few players who never was in the minors. He came directly to the A's from college in 1938, and - with time out for Uncle Sam - has been with them ever since. His best season was 1941, when he hit .322 and drove in 106 runs. Sam got the All-America nod in football at U. of California.
