Thrashers Card of the Day

Patrik Stefan
The No. 1 overall selection from the '99 NHL Entry Draft should be a centerpiece in Atlanta's lineup for quite some time. He has all the tools to be a strong force on the offensive end, with great eye-hand coordination, a terrific sense of when to move the puck and when to hold onto it, and a keen knowledge of how things tend to transpire in the attack zone, Stefan lit it up the past few seasons with Long Beach (IHL), totaling 35 points in 33 games for his efforts. It isn't often that a top overall pick makes an immediate impact with his National Hockey League team, but this case could be different, as Stefan is quite a rare talent.

Name that player!

Kamil was originally drafted by Buffalo (272nd overall in 1997) after his first year in the Czech senior league, where he played on the CHZ Litinov squad. But rather than come to North America, the strapping center remained in his homeland for the next four years. The Thrashers acquired his rights and brought him to Atlanta, where he earned a roster spot and made his NHL debut in October 2001. Piros' first NHL point came on October 6, when he set up llya Kovalchuk's first NHL goal.

Hull should be a solid addition to the Thrashers lineup. With 11 NHL seasons under his belt, his experience will go a long way for Atlanta.

Ilya had a brilliant 2000-01 season, leading the Spartak squad of Russia's first division in scoring and becoming the first Russian ever picked first overall in the NHL Draft.

Marc Savard
The Thrashers center took his playmaking to an amazing level during 2005-06. Between 11/9 and 11/18/05, a span of five games, Savard compiled one goal and 13 assists, giving him the Atlanta record for the most points in that number of consecutive contests. He was the NHL Offensive Player of the Week from 10/5 through 10/9/05.
