Wound up with 18-4 record for an .818 percentage, best in League, and an earned run average of 2.71 - the League's second best. Had an 11-game winning streak. Pitched 4 successive shutouts. Had 5 in all.

Lawrence J. Doyle, second baseman of the New York National League team, was born in Caseyville, Ill., July 31, 1886. He was an amateur ball player until 1905, when he joined the Mattoon Club of the "Kitty" League. At the close of the season of 1906 he was bought by the Giants for $4500. He has been the regular second baseman of the team since 1908.
