Name that player!

Beginning a new career in the National League with the Phils, Bo will see lots of duty in the City of Brotherly Love in 1965. The southpaw, a favorite with the fans, began his career in 1956 in the Georgia-Florida League. Bo won 13 games for Pensacola the following season and 10 games with Aberdeen in 1958. During his minor league career, Bo won 47 ballgames.



When Willie was a boy the song "Puddin' Head Jones" was really popular and the nickname "Puddin' Head” has stuck with him since. He started playing organized ball in '47 and got a trial with the Phils that year. He came up at the end of the '48 season and has been with the Phils since. In 1949, he tied a major league record by hitting 4 doubles in 1 game. He led in Putouts and Assists at 3rd Base in 1949 and 1950.



Took part in all games the Phillies played last season (157). This tied a mark that had stood since 1908. Granny batted .270. Had 27 doubles, 5 triples, 11 home runs. Drove in 82 runs. In 1949, batted .263 in 154 games. Hit 32 doubles, 5 triples, 6 homers. Led NL shortstops in assists and double plays. A Phil regular since 1948. First with the team in 1944. Spent most of 1946 in service.
