Name that player!

Alfonso smoked a 98-mph fastball up the middle on the first pitch he saw in the Majors. That kind of bat whip was attractive to the Padres, who signed him after a 2022 campaign in which he hit .283 with RISP.

It looked like Winfield's muscles had muscles of their own, each one of them working in unison to pummel the next pitch. In 2022, Martinez was the first pitcher ever to stack up at least 10 starts, eight saves and eight holds in the same season. His diverse background includes a Cuban heritage, four years of ball in Japan and a Summer Games silver medal for the U.S.
