Name that player!

On many days, simply making contact against Nolan was a triumph. Baseball's all-time strikeout king with 5,714, "The Ryan Express" overmatched hitters for nearly three decades with a sizzling fastball and knee-buckling curve. His Astros run from 1980-88 featured some of his finest moments, including two NL ERA crowns and his fifth of seven no-hitters.

Jesus was one of Astros leading batters, 1972.

The first sacker was the first major league player to hit two consecutive grand-slam homers in two innings. He accomplished that feat in a game at Minnesota. Jim will be shooting for the dome in 1966.

Back to the Front! Astros card back du jour...

Nolan Ryan
During the 1980s, Houstonians could have visited a jeweler to satisfy their fix for colorful gems. Or they could have taken a trip to the ballpark for one of Ryan's starts. A sparkling sight in the team's red, orange and yellow uniforms, the resplendent righty always lit up the home dome with his magnificence on the mound.
