Astros Card of the Day

Jose Altuve
This one-of-a-kind superstar is the epitome of a pure hitter, yet he continues to work hard at improving his craft. Jose's dedication paid off with a power explosion in 2016 to go along with another lofty batting average. As Houston's first 20/20 player since Carlos Beltran in 2004, he was named the AL Player of the Month after batting .420 with a .492 on-base percentage in June.

Name that player!

The smooth throwing southpaw was obtained from St. Louis in 1965. Last year, Mike blossomed into a star. June 25, Mike set a Houston record when he struck out fifteen St. Louis batters.

Nate's batting average jumped up 57 points in 1965. The righthander hit .274 at Cedar Rapids in the Midwest League last year. Splitting the 1965 season with two clubs, Greg hit .300 at Salem and then .307 at Batavia. The outfielder is a switch-hitter.

Alex seems like a hitter out of another generation with his elite bat-to-ball skills and low K rate. He consistently walks more than he Ks. On April 23rd, he recorded his 500th RBI. Alex had Lil Wayne in his yearbook quote and met the rapper in May.
