Undrafted out of Miami of Ohio in 2021, Grant signed up to take the MCAT, thinking he would use his degree in microbiology and premedical studies to apply to medical school. Instead, the Mets called. He signed and would make his big-league debut just two years later. The righty throws from a low arm slot and is deceptive with his sinker/slider mix.

In August, Pete became the first Mets player with four seasons with at least 35 homers. In 2022, he became the second fastest to hit 150 career roundtrippers (588 games).

Starling homered in back-to-back games against the Diamondbacks within his initial two weeks with the Mets in 2022, showing the pop that made him such an attractive offseason signing. The two-time fielding award winner stole his 300th base on April 29.
