Diamondbacks Card of the Day

Rob Hammock
Robby is a "super-utility" player of the highest order - not only an outfielder with pop in his lumber, but a third baseman and an outstanding defensive catcher. He is an extremely hard worker, a terrific bunter and a reliable clutch hitter. In a 2001 game, he played eight positions for Lancaster (A).

Name that player!

Josh has a solid claim to be one of the most underrated players in Baseball. He hangs up above- average stats, steals bases, and plays multiple positions with distinction. After missing 26 games at the start of the schedule with an oblique injury, his first three extra-base hits of the campaign were home runs - all of them in a defeat of the Cubs on May 20.

Long one of the best-hitting pitchers in his league, Bumgarner climbed a unique statistical category in 2021. He clubbed a pair of home runs, the sixth consecutive full season in which he had multiple homers. That brought him to 18 for his career, tied with Cy Young for 15th on the all-time list among pitchers.

Varsho hopped over Triple-A to debut for the Diamondbacks on July 30, 2020. The rare catcher with the wheels to play center field, Daulton found his offensive stride late in the year, hitting three homers and posting an .822 OPS in his final 19 games.

Zac Gallen
First, but not last. That's the story for all the accolades and milestones Gallen has notched in recent seasons. In 2020, the Arizona righty wound his way into the top 10 Cy Young award vote-getters, and he's bound to bite into the No. 1 spot before long. The following year, he topped triple-digit whiffs for the first of several times.
