Rockies Card of the Day

Larry Walker
Compliments carry a little more weight when sent from one Hall of Famer to another. Speaking before they were both enshrined, Scott Rolen (Class of 2023) called Walker (Class of 2020) the best player he ever played with, noting, "There's nothing he couldn't do." Nearly 40 when they became teammates, Walker was still at the top of his game.

Name that player!

Since 2014, Charlie's .305 batting average is the fourth-best in Baseball. He's taken well to his new position of right field, being named a finalist for a fielding award in 2020. He hit .500 during the first 17 games of 2020, the fifth to do so since WWII.

At 6-foot-4, D.J. is the tallest player to staff second base for 100 or more games in a season since George "High Pockets" Kelly in 1925. "The hardest part for me was people questioning if I could actually play the position at 6-foot-4, but I feel like my height is an advantage," said LeMahieu. "The [Colorado Rockies were the first team to ever give me that chance."

Todd was one of the top hitting prospects in the minors when promoled to the Rockies. He had two hits, including a homer, in his Aug. 2 debut against Pittsburgh after posting a .352 average with 16 homers and 88 RBIs for AAA-Colorado Springs. He also had a 16-game hitting streak. With Andres Galarraga anchoring first base last year, Todd played some outfield after his call-up.

Manny Corpas
Manuel had not pitched at a level higher than Class A when 2006 began, but after posting a combined 0.99 ERA in Double-A and Triple-A in the early part of the season, he made his Major League debut on July 28. The slender Panamanian with the mid-90s fastball proved effective in the Rockies pen with a 3.62 ERA in his 35 1/3 innings pitched.
