Name that player!

José wielded two pitches with a whiff rate north of 30% in 2023 - his slurve (30.5%) and his change-up (33.0%). Consistently in and around the zone, he finished second on a strong Blue Jays staff in innings. Berríos fanned a season-high 10 in his finale.

The Blue Jays inked Yusei to a three-year deal in 2022, hoping he can harness the stuff that made him an ERA champion in Japan, and an MLB All-Star Game selection in 2021. His stuff - which includes a 95-mph fastball, as well as a slider and splitter that average 87 - produced one of the highest SO rates in the game last year. Kikuchi's ERA in May was 2.36.

A T-Mobile Home Run Derby title highlighted the 2023 campaign for Vladimir, who continued to sting the ball among the elite. In each of the past four seasons, he's ranked in the 91st percentile or higher for both average and maximum exit velo.

Back to the Front! Blue Jays card back du jour...

Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.
Not as many balls found outfield grass or went over walls for Vladimir in 2022 as they did in his AL Triple Crown-threatening 2021 season, but he still hit them hard. The young slugger's exit velocity remained in the top 5%. On June 15, he ripped rockets of 115.7, 115.4 and 114.8 mph - the only time three velos that high have been recorded in one game.
