Roy Sievers
Voted Rookie of the Year at end of 1949 campaign. That season Roy appeared in 140 games, batting .306. He had 28 doubles, 16 homers, and drove in 91 runs. But in 1950 he became a victim of that old sophomore slump. Hit .238 in 113 games. Batted in 57 runs. Roy played Legion ball in St. Louis. Also played while in Army. First year in organized ball was in 1947 with Hannibal, Mo.

"Ole Satch" had the best season, in '52, of his long deferred and much interrupted Major League career. He was tied for 2nd in Games Appeared in, turning in an 8-8 record as a reliever and a 4-2 mark as a starter. In addition, he was in the finishing pitcher in 10 other Brownie wins. Satchell hurled a 12 inning, 1-0 shutout against the Tigers in '52. He's been in the AL since '48, hurling for the Indians in '48 and '49 and the Browns in '51.



Willie came up to the American League at the end of the '51 season with the Senators. He went to the White Sox and then to the Browns in '52. After breaking into pro ball in '48; Willie was moved up to Chattanooga where he played for 3 seasons. During those years, Willie, a standout fielder, hit .237, .248 and .246. He had a .444 mark in 7 games with the Senators in '51.



The Indians brought Fred up to the majors in '51 after he batted .300 at Oklahoma City in '50. Before the '51 season got under way, he was traded to the Browns. Fred has been in organized ball since '42, except for 3 years in the Navy. After the War, he played with Tacoma in '46 and Burlington in '47. Fred hit .305 at Oklahoma City in '48 and smacked 11 homers.

Vic Wertz
Vic hits a long ball, and is a good man in the outfield. He began the 1952 season with the Detroit Tigers and after appearing in 85 games for them was traded to St. Louis in a big deal. He's been in baseball since 1942. He began as an outfielder and has stayed one with the exception of 1943 with Buffalo when he appeared in 1 game, pitching 2 innings.
