Formerly an under-utilized NBA curiosity, Bol has assumed the role of defensive stopper for the 76ers, a part perfectly attuned to his specialized talents. The Sudanese native shattered the old Sixer mark by rejecting 247 shots last year.
The first selection in the entire 1973 NBA College draft, Doug was rated as the nation's top quard for his play at Illinois State. He averaged 26 points on a 650-point season as a senior after a spectacular junior year when his 32.6 average ranked him 3rd in the nation. Doug averaged at least 80.8 percent in foul shooting over his career and shot at a 50% mark from the field in his junior season.
