Name that player!

Did good job in thankless role of replacing the great Wilt Chamberlain as Philly center. Despite emphasis on defense (792 rebounds) Darrall nearly equalled previous year's scoring with 9.2 average.

Word association... Iverson. Points? Crossover? Fast? Explosive? Yes, all of those things, but add this one: Courage. By the end of what was another spectacular year for the young guard, Allen still was operating at a high level in the NBA Playoffs despite a swollen shooting elbow, torn rotator cuff, broken big toe and chip fracture of the right ankle. "That kid is incredible," said team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy, who called Iverson's threshold for pain the highest he's ever seen.

The 76ers' leading producer of field goals, free throws, rebounds, points and scoring average in 1970-71, Billy is a super star. It's his hustling, ballhandling, pressing defense and scoring which makes the 76ers go. He's a perennial All-Star and the player counted on by his teammates to get the clutch bucket.

Back to the Front! 76ers card back du jour...

Derrick Alston
In Derrick Alston, the Philadelphia 76ers have a quality inside player who gives the versatility at both forward positions in addition to filling in at center on occasion. While at the University of Dequeste, he spearheaded both their offense and defense, averaging 21.3 points and 7.3 boards a game. He ended his career as their all-time leader in field goal percentage (.576) and blocked shots (229). The Sixers acquired the 6-11 Alston using the 33rd selection in the 1994 NBA Draft.
