76ers Card of the Day

Joel Embiid
Tearing it up in 2022-23, Embiid poured in a personal-high 33.1 points and won his second straight scoring title. It had been a bit since a center led the league in consecutive seasons. Bob McAdoo and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did so in the 1970s, Wilt Chamberlain did so in the '60s, and Neil Johnston and George Mikan did so in the '50s.

Name that player!

Julius is 5-time NBA All-Star.

Word association... Iverson. Points? Crossover? Fast? Explosive? Yes, all of those things, but add this one: Courage. By the end of what was another spectacular year for the young guard, Allen still was operating at a high level in the NBA Playoffs despite a swollen shooting elbow, torn rotator cuff, broken big toe and chip fracture of the right ankle. "That kid is incredible," said team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy, who called Iverson's threshold for pain the highest he's ever seen.

Named 1991 NBA All-Star MVP for his 17-point, 22-rebound performance...MVP runner up for the 1990 season...Led 76ers in scoring and rebounding each of the last five seasons... Scored 45 points at Phoenix 12/28/90...Ranked near top of league in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage in 1991.

Clarence Weatherspoon
Perhaps the most powerful performer in the 1993 NBA Slam-Dunk Championship, Clarence Weatherspoon made it all the way to the finals on the strength of his thunderous slams. After qualifying with scores of 43.2 and 44.3 in the first round, Weatherspoon trotted out his best two dunks in the finals. He opened with a one-handed 360-degree windmill from the baseline for 44.7 points. He missed a reverse two-hander before another jam from under the basket catapulted him into second place with a 47.5 score.
