First pick overall in 1981 draft by Dallas... Obtained in midseason trade with Dallas in 1989... Played for 1980 Olympic team... Played in NBA All-Star Games in 1984, 1987, 1988.

"QUICKNESS" How acquired: Drafted in the first round in 1981 (second selection). Isiah Thomas may be more known for his infectious smile or off-court demeanor. But don't ever forget that he is still one of the quickest point guards in the NBA. In 1991-92, Thomas remained as consistent as ever. "Zeke" placed second on the Pistons in scoring (18.5 ppg.) and topped Detroit in assists and steals just a year after the most serious injury of his career. In 1990-91, Thomas missed 34 games because of a wrist injury. Thomas became the Pistons all-time leading scorer in 1991-92, surpassing Bob Lanier. He was already the Pistons leader in assists and steals. Two years earlier, Thomas was the MVP of the 1990 Finals in which Detroit won its second straight NBA title. In 1984-85, Thomas set a single-season record for assists in a season with 1,123 (since broken by John Stockton). Despite being an 11-year veteran, Thomas' game has not slowed a bit. In 1991-92, he was named to the NBA All-Star Team for the 11th straight season.

Eric gained maturity in his first two NBA seasons, learning how to control the game's tempo - leading the fast break, playing defense. Extremely talented at getting free, his quick moves position him for the medium to short jump shot. When Eric hits on a free throw at Cobo Hall, the message board flashes the sign, "Two For the $$".
