Pistons Card of the Day

Chauncey Billups
New Pistons coach Larry Brown warmed up to Chauncey in a hurry last year: "I never realized how good a shooter he was.... He's a really good deep shooter, especially when he gets his feet set and is under control. He reminds me of Reggie [Miller] when he gets on a roll."

Name that player!

Last season, NBA.com conducted a poll in which general managers were asked who they considered the "toughest player" in the NBA. No contest - Ben was the runaway winner. Wallace is coming off his highest-scoring season, but his defense and rebounding set him apart.

Acquired from Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Adrian Dantley and a first round draft choice 2/15/89... Two-time all-American selection in college... Member of 1980 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team... Played in 1984, 1987 and 1988 NBA All-Star Games... Scored career-high 49 points vs. Philadelphia 1/28/85.

M.L. rates with the consistent small forwards in the game. Although listed at 6'6", he plays bigger than his height in all phases of basketball and plays the "three-man" spot in Pistons' disciplined fastbreak attack. M.L. is quick and can put the ball on the floor to drive past foes with blazing speed.

Ben Wallace
Ben is a rarity to have been voted to start an NBA all-star game almost solely for his defense and rebounding. "It's never been about me, it's about the team," he says. "I just do what I do. I work hard and keep my mouth shut. I don't care if people don't mention my name." They do anyway.
