Pelicans Card of the Day

Omer Asik
With Anthony Davis quickly becoming one of the most dynamic players in the NBA, Asik is allowed to quietly handle the rest of the dirty work in the middle for the Hornets. During a 90-75 win over the Suns on April 10, 2015, Davis scored a team-high 19 points, and Asik pulled down a team-high 18 rebounds.

Name that player!

A breakout performer in 2022-23, Murphy upped his scoring production from 5.4 points per game as a rookie to 14.5 in his second season. He did it all while establishing himself as one of the most efficient shooters in the league, hitting 48.4 percent of his attempts from the field and 40.6 percent from 3-point distance.

Bringing a great deal of speed to Smoothie King Center, Lewis blends an electric handle with a knack for making plays while running full tilt. Giving the visiting Lakers a taste of his skills, the rookie poured in 16 points while mixing in a half-dozen assists to help the Pelicans savor a 128-111 victory on March 23, 2021.

Boxing out like crazy in 2014-15, New Orleans ranked as the fifth-best team in surrendering rebounds, allowing just 41.5. Throwing his weight around in the paint against Philadelphia on Jan. 16, Ajinca corralled a career-high 14, including 10 on the defensive end. Getting busy on offense as well, he dropped in 16 points.

Back to the Front! Pelicans card back du jour...

Cheick Diallo
NBA D-League stints with the Austin Spurs, Long Island Nets and Greensboro Swarm kept Diallo busy between appearances with the Pelicans in 2016-17. Those stops also honed the 20-year-old rookie's skills, as evidenced, by his first career double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) against the Clippers on Dec. 10.
