Montez Sweat
There's a reason scouts measure vertical leap at the Combine every year. Sweat, who posted a 36-inch vertical in 2019, showed the value when Washington faced the Cowboys in Week 12 of the 2020 season - he leaped to deflect an Andy Dalton pass, then snagged it and returned it 15 yards for the final score during a 41-16 win.

Brown didn't need a high volume of catches to go over 1,000 yards in both 2019 and 2020 at North Carolina. Just the opportunity was enough, as the pass-catcher averaged 20-plus yards a catch both years. Big-play dynamics work at any level, so Washington put the wideout on its roster via the 2021 NFL Draft.

Before Patterson's record-setting career at the University at Buffalo, he grew up in the D.C. suburb of Glenn Dale, MD., rooting for Washington and especially safety Sean Taylor. It was a dream come true when Washington signed him after he went undrafted. "It's unreal," Patterson said. "It feels like a movie."

At full speed mere moments after getting the ball, Patterson hits the line with trademark sureness. It's as if he knows he's going to emerge on the other side, going just as fast, breaking into open ground in the secondary. It's how he got his yards in college, and Washington can picture the same in the NFL.

Young surprised his parents by buying each of them new cars at the conclusion of the 2020 season. His parents are his biggest fans, especially his mom, Carla, but she can also be a critic when he doesn't get sacks. "It definitely gives me more motivation," said Young, who ranked second on the team with 7.5 sacks in 2020.
