Freiermuth corralled 60 passes as a 2021 rookie and hauled in 63 more throws in his second pro season. That made him the second tight end in NFL history, alongside Philadelphia's Keith Jackson (1988, 1989), with at least 60 receptions in each of his first two seasons. He's been quite the catch for the Steelers.
Look for this strong fullback to make a comeback in 1969. Bill was a leading rusher for the Steelers in '66 and '67. In '66, Bill topped Pittsburgh with 544 yards and finished 2nd on the club in '67. In 1967, his 73 yard run vs. the Bears was the longest from scrimmage in the NFL.
Pittsburgh suffered through a poor season last year but the coach and players are optimistic. They have some fine young players with bright futures. The rebuilding process has started and now it is a matter of time until they move.
