Patriots Card of the Day

Jim Colclough
One of the all-time pass receivers in the A.F.L., Jim was a member of the original Patriots in 1960. Traded to the Jets in 1965, Jim was then reacquired by Boston. Good speed, sure hands and gutsy determination makes him tops!

Name that player!

Jim got off to a slow start last year because of injuries, but quickly rounded into top shape. For the fourth season in a row, Jim has led the Patriots in pass receiving. Coach Mike Holovak first saw Jim play when he I coached him at Boston College. Though Jim played in the Canadian Football League for a time, Holovak kept a close watch on the halfback and brought him to the Patriots.

One of the league's top return men, Troy continued to impress in 2000. He finished third in the NFL in punt return yards, including the first touchdown of his career. But returns were only half of the story for Brown last season. He also led the Patriots in receptions and all-purpose yards, and finished ninth in the AFC in catches.

Quarterbacks tend to get the glory, but Deion would have been a justifiable choice as Super Bowl XXXVIII MVP. He was on the receiving end of 10 passes from actual MVP Tom Brady, including a 17-yarder that was the final play before the game-winning field goal. Brown, in only his second season, also was the Patriots' leading receiver in the regular season, ending a three-year run by Troy Brown.

Back to the Front! Patriots card back du jour...

Ross O'Hanley
Ross was first named as an All-League safetyman in 1960 and has been there ever since... except for 1961 when he served in the Armed Forces. His spirited play in '63 helped the Patriots' defensive unit become tops in the American Football League. Ross is another of the many Patriots that starred at Boston College. A high school quarterback, he became a defensive back at college.
