Name that player!

When Gil suffered a broken leg last season, the Sabres hopes for a playoff berth were severely hampered. The former rookie of the year and number one overall selection in the 1970 Amateur Draft is one of the flashiest performers in the NHL. Gilles has been in the superstar category since his very first game in the NHL. He is a former winner of Lady Byng Trophy.

One of the mose dangerous shooters on the Sabres, Jim led all Buffalo marksmen with 12 power play goals last season. Only four players in the entire Leauge were more effective than Jim on the power play. A former rookie of the year and most valuable player in the Central League, Jim has played with three other NHL teams. He has one of the league's hardest shots.

The Russian-born right winger has worked hard at improving his game, even now as an established force in the Sabres lineup. Afinogenov has polished his passing game and it has resulted in a big boost in his assist totals for the 2005-06 season, setting a new career high thanks to nights like 03/25/06 against Boston when he collected three helpers against the Bruins.

Dominik Hasek
Most NHL observers simply ran out of adjectives to describe Buffalo's Dominik Hasek this past season as the All-Star netminder become the first player in league history to simultaneously win both the Hart and Vezina Trophies in successive compaigns. "The Dominator" was in rare form on March 15 against Pittsburgh when he notched his 30th career shutout en route to amassing a the league's best total for 1997-98.
