Ferrell caught in over 100 games a year for 11 years, a total of 1806 games in the majors in addition to over 250 in the minors before starting his major league career with the old St. Louis Browns in 1929. He later went to Boston and Washington, back to St. Louis, and Washington a second time. He caught on six straight all-star teams and in two World Series. He is now assistant to the President of the Tigers.
Few rookies ever made a more auspicious debut than Jablonski who batted across 112 runs in 1953 for the Cardinals. Just 26, Ray is noted for his steady chatter and solid infield play. A native of Chicago, he was developed in the Cardinal farm system with stops in Milford, Columbus (Ga.), Winston-Salem and Rochester.
Tyler was promoted early in 2024 after a red-hot stretch in Triple-A. He was MLB Pipeline's No. 42 overall prospect. Tyler's father, Canadian sportscaster Rod Black, called play-by-play for his son's second big-league hit. "And there's a base hit to right field from my boy. Tyler Black," dad said.
