Jumped right from college ball at Baylor University in Texas in 1923 and made good. Three years later pitched a no-hit, no-run game against the Red Sox. Has been one of the star twirlers of the American League ever since. Last year won 10 games and lost 15 for a ball club which finished seventh. Born at Lake Charles, La., in 1900. Did some infielding in boyhood days, before he became a pitching star. Is five feet, 10 1⁄2 inches tall and weighs 173, batting and throwing right-handed.

Upon joining the Yankees in 2014, Masahiro made the hype look understated. His 46 strikeouts were the third-most since 1900 for a pitcher in his first five Major League starts.

Although Scott followed his best season with his worst, the Yankees were so certain the real Brosius will re-emerge in 1998 that they traded for him and cut loose their primary '97 third basemen. In either case, he is a defensive asset whose .977 fielding percentage was third-highest among ML hot cornermen.
