The Pistons came into being as an NBA franchise in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1949. In 1957, the team relocated to its present home, Detroit. The highlights of the organization came in 1989 and 1990, when the Pistons won back-to-back NBA Championships to become the third franchise in NBA history to accomplish the feat. DID YOU KNOW? The only NBA team to draw more than 50,000 fans to a game, Detroit set the NBA attendance record with 61,983 on hand for a January 29, 1988, game with Boston. The winner of the highest-scoring NBA game, the Pistons also won the lowest-scoring game, a 19-18 Fort Wayne win over Minneapolis on November 22, 1950. SCORECARD. In three overtimes on December 13, 1983, the Pistons bested the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in the highest-scoring game in NBA history.
