The Conquistadors' leading scorer in 1972-73, Stew got his first taste of playoff action in his six-year ABA career last season. Called by many the best shooting forward in pro basketball, his output helped San Diego off to a great start at the beginning of the campaign.
Wiping out opponents with big baskets while also wiping the glass clean, Tatum led the Celtics with 26.4 points and 6.6 defensive rebounds in 2020-21. The long, strong forward became the third player in team history to post multiple seasons with at least 20.0 points and 6.0 defensive boards, Joining Larry Bird and Antoine Walker.
Fittingly, it was Larry Bird who hit the first-ever three-point shot in the NBA All-Star Game, back in 1980. A dozen years later he was selected to his 12th NBA All-Star Team (his 10th as a starter) but, for the second straight season, was unable to play because of an injury. He was MVP of the NBA All-Star Game in 1982, and only Isiah Thomas has more steals than Bird (23) in All-Star competition.
