Acquired by the Bulls from the Super Sonics after the first three games of the 1972-73 season, Garfield was a real surprise package when he joined Seattle in 1970. His quick hands defensively and his steady board play kept him in the lineup. Then, teaming with Spencer Haywood and Don Smith on the frontline, his contributions made a near contender out of the Sonics.

Laettner, one of the most celebrated players in NCAA history quickly translated that success to the NBA. He ranked among the top five rookies in PPG, AST and REB, while tossing in a team BLK leadership for good measure.

One of the NBA's finest rookies of the 1976-77 campaign, Robert was selected to the league's All-Rookie Second Team as the center.
