Bernie averaged 19.2 points per game as a junior and 18.2 points per game as a senior at Brigham Young where for two straight seasons he was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Star Team. Possessed with an accurate shooting touch, he shot a strong 45 percent as a junior and a stronger 48 percent as a senior. Bernie prides himself on his defensive play and considers himself a team player.
