When the Pistons were trading with N. Y. for Gallitan and Clifton, they made sure that Dick came along. He figures to see plenty of action this season after being a part time toiler in '56-'57. At college, Dick was a sensation and in one contest racked up 32 points against Arkansas Tech.
The greatest scorer in the NBA ... the only player to go over 3000 points in one season ... the record holder for field goal percentage ... and the most titanic rebounder in the history of the hardwood. The "Big Dipper' completely rewrote the record book last season, setting ten NBA marks. They were: most points scored, 3,033; highest average per game, 38.3; most field goals attempted, 2,479; most field goals scored, 1,251; highest field goal percentage, 505; most free throws attempted, 1,054; most rebounds, 2,149; highest rebounding average, 27.2; most minutes played, 3,733; most games scoring 50 or more points, eight.
Paul was the scoring leader in the N.B.A. last season and registered the finest per game average. Winning the title is nothing new to him - he was king in 1951-52 with 1674 points. Regarded as the finest jump shooter in the game, Paul scored 10 straight baskets in a game against the Nats in 1956!
