He graduated from Eastern Kentucky in 1946 after running up second highest individual scoring total in nation. While with Sheboygan in 1946-47 he was named National League "Rookie of the Year." Started following season with Sheboygan - midway through it was purchased by Indianapolis. Finished season with 9.8 average. All-American at East Kentucky.
