Immortal of all time in college football is Knute Rockne, late coach at Notre Dame, who produced many intercollegiate champions, best of which was the 1924 "Four horsemen and seven mules." A superb teacher and student of human nature, Rockne developed more college coaches than any man in the history of football. Nearly 100 Notre Dame men are now coaching college and school teams. Rockne's secret was close attention to little details, from a unique style of line play in which such oddities as the "forearm shiver," the "sliding line" etc. were features, to high backfield speed in which the carriers moved like well drilled soldiers.
0.J. enjoyed a fine rookie campaign for the Bills in 1969, as he finished the season as the sixth leading rusher in the AFL. The winner of the Heisman Trophy as the outstanding college player of 1968, O.J. led the nation with 1,709 yards rushing on 355 carries for a 4.8 yard average. Also scored 22 touchdowns. In his brief career with the Rams, John has played Guard, Center as well as linebacker. In the Army during the 1957 season, he played plenty of service ball to keep in shape.
