He played in the shadow of Brian Griese at Michigan and appeared destined for a similar role behind Drew Bledsoe in New England, as Tom arrived at the 2001 training camp as the third QB on the depth chart. Yet by the time the season ended, he was one of the top passers in the NFL. Taking over for an injured Bledsoe early in the year, Brady's quick feet and accurate arm led the Pats to Super Bowl XXXVI. He then was named the game's Most Valuable Player after leading his charges to a game-winning drive (with no time-outs) in the final minute.
Pat specializes in the kicking department. Was third in punting in the National League in 1952. Went to both Nevada and Bradley Universities. Was drafted by the New York Giants, but decided to play in the Canadian football league. Returned, however, to start the season with the Steelers.
Has played fullback 8 years for the Packers. All-Pro fullback, 1944, 1945, 1946. Scoring champion in National Football League, 1946, with 100 points. Attended Stevens Point State Teachers College, Stevens Point, Wis. Three years of varsity football, and 3 of varsity basketball. Received master's degree, U. of Wisconsin, June, 1950.
