The miracle of the Dolphins became an actuality when they reached the AFC Playoffs with a 45-7 win over the Bills, 12-20-70. It was the club's 6th win in a row and in that period, Bob completed 60 of 87 passes for 843-yards and a completion percentage of 68.9%. In that span Bob threw 5 touchdown passes and for the entire season his completion percentage was 58.0%, best in the AFC. Bob gives the Dolphins fine leadership on the field. He has tremendous poise and self-confidence and all the matching physical attributes. A knee injury kept Bob out of the final five games in 1969 but that season he enjoyed great days against the Bengals, passing for a team record 327-yards, and against the Jets, hitting on 18 of 27 attempts for 4 touchdowns.
Turned in second consecutive stellar season when he passed for 29 touchdowns and club-record 4,310 yards in 1989... Cookie was named the American Football League's Most Valuable Player for 1962. The hard-driving fullback set a league record when he gained 1096 yards on the ground. This also made Cookie the first man in the A.F.L. to pass the 1000 yard mark. A super-star, Cookie is one of the few to make good in pro-football without any college experience. He led the Bills with 12 T.D.s in '63!
