Only Bears rookie to earn starting job in 1987, starting all 12 non-strike games and catching 42-yard touchdown pass against defending Super Bowl-champion Giants. Led team in receiving all four years at SMU and finished career as third-leading receiver in school's history with 147 catches and 14 touchdowns. First-team All-Southwest Conference as senior. Won Texas 100- and 200-meter championships in high school.
