Coffee Talk Name that player!
"Red" was the greatest runner in college football history. No team could stop him as he romped for 4,000 yards in 3 seasons and an all time record. In his senior year against Michigan he carried the ball only 5 times and scored 5 T.D.'s - 4 of them in the first 10 minutes of the game.
The Rams scored the longest Touchdown pass in '64 with a 95 yarder. They also led with 487 yards returned on Interceptions. In the Interception Department, in addition, they scored the longest touchdown, a 97 yarder.
For what it's worth, Waddle didn't need the extra game (the NFL went to a 17-game schedule in 2021) to establish a league record for catches by a rookie. He should take extra pride in having amassed 104 receptions in 16 games and topping the mark (101) set by Arizona's Anquan Boldin in 2003.
