One of the best two-way forwards in NHL, Gilles combines great speed with deft wrist shot. He has 26-goal average for three full seasons in NHL, and might have done better but for injury bugaboo. Not related to J. C. Tremblay.
Phil suffered a drop in point production in 58-59, yet still earned rating from coach Blake as his soundest all round centreman. Phil will never earn plaudits as a goal scorer and will play many games during a season without stirring a ripple of applause, but behind his almost colourless play is a brilliant defensive ability.
Regarded by many as the early season choice to collect Calder hardware in the summer of 1997, Iginla got his first taste of NHL action in the 1996 playoffs, tallying two points in two games. And if a spectacular World Junior Championships experience bodes well for the future, then the 1996 tournament's best forward and All-Star may become a premier NHL winger.
