Labanc answered the call to represent his country at the World Championship in the spring of 2021 following his 28-point season with the San Jose Sharks. The native of Staten Island, N.Y., chipped in a pair of goals and six points in 10 contests at the tournament in Riga, Latvia, to help the Americans head home with bronze medals.
John is a great defensive player, probably the finest sweep checker in hockey today, and one of the best the NHL has ever seen. He's used mostly in penalty-killing roles and has proven invaluable to the club in that capacity. He's determined to stay in the NHL and can be counted on to give his best.
