Brewers Card of the Day

Gorman Thomas
Stormin' Gorman Thomas is one of baseball's most exciting performers. He is a premier home run slugger and a gifted defensive outfielder with excellent speed and a fine arm. Originally signed by the Brewers in 1969 when they were the Seattle Pilots, he spent six seasons in the minors and was even briefly traded away to Texas before making the majors. It was a spectacular season at Spokane in 1977 in which he hit .322 with 36 homers and 114 RBI that earned him a shot with the Brewers.

Name that player!

Keston's dazzling 2019 rookie season came as no surprise to those who watched him rake at the U. of California Irvine, where he batted .375 with a .466 OBP over three seasons. Chosen by Milwaukee with the ninth overall pick of the 2017 MLB Draft, he was deemed the top prospect in the organization by Baseball America a year later. Revealing a compact stroke and an ability to barrel pitches anywhere in the zone, Keston finished the year with the second-highest slugging percentage (.570) ever by a Brewers rookie in 80-plus games. Highlights included a walk-off longball and a 15-game hitting streak.

Abner K-ed Aaron Judge in September. "First couple of pitches I was a little quick and then I made an adjustment." The fastball registered 100.3 mph.

Tyler's power and speed were on full display from the start of his MLB career. The toolsy Canadian smoked a 102.6-mph stand-up double to center in his first big-league PA on 4/30/24 and added a single in his next at-bat. Black doubled again in his second game and logged his first steal in his third.

Aaron Ashby
After a rocky debut in June, Aaron dominated upon his return to Milwaukee six weeks later. The southpaw went 3-1 with a 1.78 ERA in his first 11 appearances back, splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. He picked up his first save September 12.
