Name that player!

The skipper of the St. Louis Cardinals spent 15 of his 19 major league seasons as an active player in Busch Stadium. Red's fabulous career, though primarily filled with greatness, also was sprinkled with troubles. Suffering an eye injury while very young, Red found he was having difficulty batting righthanded against righty pitchers. The young man crossed over to the other side of the plate to compensate for the difficulty and developed into one of the best majors' top switch-hitters. The Cardinal second sacker turned in his peak year in 1952 when he batted .342 and finished 2nd in the NL batting sweepstakes. In 1958 it was discovered that Red was suffering from tuberculosis. Doctors told the ballplayer that his playing days had ended. But the spirited young man fooled the medics as he went on to play big league ball until 1963.

Solly began his career in OB in 1946 with Houston of the Texas League, but that same season he moved to Pocatello in the Pioneer League where he wound up with a batting average of .363, just a fraction off the average which won the league title. In 1947 he was with Houston, where he remained through 1948 and 1949. He was called up to the Cards towards the end of the 1949 season.

It was another blockbuster season for Nolan in 2022. He had his seventh 30-HR/100-RBI season (three more than anyone else since 2015), and he became the first infielder to begin a career with 10 fielding awards.

Albert Pujols
A 10th 30-HR season was the headline for Albert in 2010, but he also played some "small ball." He was the team's first player with three straight 100-BB years, and he once scored a run in 19 of 20 games.
