On 5/1/01, Jeff made the Pirates pay for pitching around Barry Bonds, as he knocked in seven.



The powerful righthand batter has solved San Francisco's third base problems. An exceptionally fine fielder, Jim also carries a potent bat. He tied Willie Mays for the club leadership of total base hits in 1965 and was second to him in runs batted in.

Larry Doyle
Lawrence J. Doyle, second baseman of the New York National League team, was born in Caseyville, Ill., July 31, 1886. He was an amateur ball player until 1905, when he joined the Mattoon Club of the "Kitty" League. At the close of the season of 1906 he was bought by the Giants for $4500. He has been the regular second baseman of the team since 1908.
