Reno has a fine arm and can fire bullets across the diamond. Digging out hot smashes is second nature to this fine fielder. Reno's average trailed off last year, but he has natural ability, a keen batting eye, and he figures to have a fine year in '59. Reno was born in St. Vito, Italy.
Ed joined Washington from The Chicago White Sox in 1967. Nicknamed "The Streak" because of his blinding speed, this outfielder has led three leagues in stolen bases. At Clinton in 1963, he topped The Midwest League with 74 thefts. His 72 swipes in 1964 led the Carolina League and his 57 stolen bases in '66 was the best in The Pacific Coast League. In four minor league seasons, Ed has 230 stolen bases to his credit.
The 26-year-old first baseman joined the Senators in the deal that brought Frank Howard from L. A. to Washington. In the minors Dick earned quite a reputation for himself. He was the California League's home run champion and RBI leader in 1961. Dick twice led his circuit in putouts while in the Dodger farm chain.
