JP picked up his first Yankees victory on April 16, 2022, after tossing a scoreless inning out of the bullpen against Baltimore. Experienced as both a starter and reliever, the southpaw has shown excellent command of three pitches, averaging just 2.6 BBs/9 IP on the farms. Sears ranked third in the system in strikeouts and whiff rate (32.8%) in 2021.

My Favorite Baseball Memories by Jim Robertson: My biggest thrill in baseball was my first major league game. The best fielding play I've seen involved the 1949 Yankees. There was a ground ball to Phil Rizzuto in the hole. He flipped to Billy Johnson at second, who threw the runner out at first. The funniest incident in a game also involved Rizzuto, when he was caught in a run-down. My advice to youngsters: Play ball, don't watch it on TV. And to me, the most important part of baseball is pitching.

Fans of the A's will never forget Lew's exciting debut in 1961. As an 18 year old, the righthander pitched a three-hit shutout against the Angels in his first professional game. In 1964, Lew was second in the tough Pacific Coast League with 16 complete games. He played baseball, basketball and football in high school.
