My Favorite Baseball Memories by Jim Robertson: My biggest thrill in baseball was my first major league game. The best fielding play I've seen involved the 1949 Yankees. There was a ground ball to Phil Rizzuto in the hole. He flipped to Billy Johnson at second, who threw the runner out at first. The funniest incident in a game also involved Rizzuto, when he was caught in a run-down. My advice to youngsters: Play ball, don't watch it on TV. And to me, the most important part of baseball is pitching.

The Kansas City front office rub their hands with delight seeing that Jim is now on the Athletics' roster and not on the roster of the opposition. A 24-year-old lefthanded batter, Jim is a product of the Red Sox farm chain. In 1964, at Reading in the Eastern League, Jim's thirteen triples was the high mark in the circuit. Fleet-footed as a base-runner, Jim was tied for fourth in doubles. on the Kansas City club last season. The young man snared up 5 stolen bases in 1966.

After selecting Susac in the first round of the 2022 draft, Oakland sent him to its rookie-level club to see how his bat stacked up against pro hurlers. Watching the backstop go 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI in his debut (Aug. 4) erased any doubts among the brass. Within a week he was on his way up the ladder with a promotion to Class A.
