Expos Card of the Day

Tom Walker
Tom established an all-time pro baseball record with the longest no-hitter ever, a 15-inning masterpiece for Dallas-Fort Worth vs. Albuquerque. Tom faced only two batters over the minimum 45, 2 of the 4 batters he walked were erased, one on a steal and the other on a double play. Tom retired the first 18 batters he faced and the last 22. Game was played 8-4-71.

Name that player!

The acquisition of Tim along with Ken Singleton and Mike Jorgensen proved to be a fine trade for Expos last season. Tim became Montreal's regular shortstop with his all-out hustle every minute of every game. He plays hard all the time, diving to make stops in field and hustling on the bases.

The clean, unpretentious design of the 1978 Topps set gave the photos room to breathe, making this one of the most adored issues of the '70s for collectors. A colored, scripted team name graced the lower-left, while a thin border framed each image. All-Stars were identified with small logos on their regular card. Gary Carter (#120) didn't get one this time, but he'd make 11 trips to the Midsummer Classic.

Mike enjoyed an outstanding season at Montreal in 1972. His ERA was 1.61 after the first 15 games. His fastball moved in all directions and his curveball was at its best.
