Red Sox Card of the Day

Ray Scarborough
Ray was always rough on the Red Sox when he was with the Senators and White Sox. Boston, which procured him in a winter trade, hopes he will be as rough in 1951 on the Beantown's 7 AL competitors. Ray had a 13-18 record in 1950, divided between Washington and Chicago. Came to Senators in 1942. Remained with them until Chisox trade. In the service for 2 years.

Name that player!

This 26 year old outfielder went from the last place A's to the first place Red Sox last year. Nicknamed "The Hawk," Ken is an all-around athlete. In high school, he was an All-American in basketball. Ken is a threat to win any golf tournament that he enters, too!

The Red Sox management expects big things of Willard this season; a good year for the talented youngster, could help make the Red Sox a tough team. Willard began in 1948 with Scranton. He appeared in 13 games for Louisville in 1950, winning 11 and losing 2, when he was called up by the Red Sox. Won 8 and lost 6 at the end of the season, and in 1951 had a 7-4 record.

In just his second Major League start for Boston on 9/1/07, Buchholz put his name in the history books with a stellar 115-pitch no-hitter against Baltimore. The lanky right-hander was still firing away in the ninth inning as he recorded his eighth and ninth strikeouts of the game in that frame. He became the 17th hurler in Red Sox history to spin a no-hitter.

Nathan Eovaldi
A 2018 World Series hero in Boston, Eovaldi continues to come through for the club. The right-hander's 2021 campaign included a league-best 32 starts, nearly 200 strikeouts and the best Fielding Independent Pitching mark in the league, not to mention the fewest walks per nine of all hurlers in the circuit.
