Omar is such an accomplished artist that one of his paintings has been put on display in downtown Cleveland. His proficiency with oil and canvas, however, cannot compare to his artistry with leather. Vizquel, the only Indians SS ever to win a Gold Glove, has become the AL's defensive prototype. In '96, he became an offensive force, as well, setting career highs in most categories.
Succeeds Lou Boudreau at the difficult shortstop position for the Indians. Batted .301 in 109 games in 1950. Began in organized baseball in 1942. Next 3 years in the service. With Wilkes-Barre in 1946. Worked up the ladder and got a chance with Indians toward end of 1948 season. In six games for the Tribe that year, batting an even .400. Got into 86 games during the 1949 campaign, and hit .252.
After leading the entire Majors in runs scored (134) in '06, Sizemore crossed home 118 times in '07 to finish fourth in the AL. He started last year with seven runs in his first three games.
