Fred was the big man out of the bullpen for Detroit last year, chalking up many saves for the Tigers. The righthander made his pitching debut in 1956, winning 11 ballgames in the Georgia-Florida circuit. The following season with the same club, Fred was a 16 game winner as he struck out 185 batters in 217 innings.



Johnny was the best fielding outfielder in the American League in 1951 winning the title by 2 ten-thousandths of a point. At the plate, he started the '51 season slowly, but hit .325 during the last half of the season to bring his average up. He had trials with the Tigers in 1946 and 1947, but didn't make the grade until 1949 after hitting .340 at Buffalo in 1948. His first year up, John batted .293 and hit .306 in 1950.



Hit .323 in 143 games in 1950 Drove in 103 runs. Tied for the League lead in triples (11). Best fielding outfielder among those who appeared in 100 or more games. Percentage, .997. Started in organized baseball in 1941. Called up by Tigers, 1942. Also called by the Army. Out of baseball 3 years. Rejoined Tigers, 1946. Until recently has been tough-luck player in the matter of injuries.

A consensus top-30 prospect entering 2024, Colt made the Opening Day roster at 22 and served as Detroit's regular second baseman. He was the AL Rookie of the Month in July, hitting .322 with a 1.048 OPS.
