The 76ers' leading producer of field goals, free throws, rebounds, points and scoring average in 1970-71, Billy is a super star. It's his hustling, ballhandling, pressing defense and scoring which makes the 76ers go. He's a perennial All-Star and the player counted on by his teammates to get the clutch bucket.
Though Sharone opened the season as a starter, he got nothing but better as his rookie season wore on. He increased his scoring and rebounding averages, in fact, in each succeeding month. Revealing well-rounded skills, he scored as many as 23 points in a game (Nov. 5), once blocked seven shots (Jan. 20) and amassed 24 games with seven or more rebounds.
Drafted in second round by Cleveland in 1984... Subsequently traded to Indiana and acquired by Philadelphia in a trade in 1988... Averaged career high 16.2 points in 1989.
