Celtics Card of the Day

Bob Cousy
The game's greatest playmaker and one of its top drawing cards in his 12th NBA season. A brilliant ball handler and fine shooter, this "Houdini of the Court" has never failed to be voted a place on the All-Star team. He owns a flock of records, including a fantastic 28 assists in one game, on Feb. 27, 1959, against Minneapolis. He has led the league in assists in all but three of his 11 seasons, having as many as 715 in the 1959-60 campaign. His career total of 14,477 points is topped only by Adolph Schayes.

Name that player!

Larry Bird has always been considered one of the most talented players in the NBA. But, during the 1990/91 season, Bird showed just as much determination as talent. Bird missed 22 games during the season because of a painful back injury. Frequently, when he did play, Bird had to lie on the floor when he was out of the game to keep his back loose.

The winner of the 1994-95 NBA Most Improved Player award, Barros signed with his hometown Celtics following a banner season in which he was chosen an NBA All-Star, led the league in three-pointers made (197) and set a new NBA record for consecutive games with at least one trey made (58).

One of the finest offensive rebounders in pro basketball, Cedric goes up strong but has a gentle touch around the basket. He's fearless about challenging taller and heftier foes inside.

Arthur (Speed) Spector
Speed is the only remaining member of first Boston Celtic team of three years ago. Before he came to the Basketball Association of America he spent one season with Trenton in the American League... As his nickname indicates he is one of the fastest big men in the BAA and in the course of his defensive play has covered some of the best players in the league.
