Magic Card of the Day

Orlando Magic, Nick Anderson
The Magic began play in the NBA in 1989-90, but many people will point to the 1992 NBA Draft as the team's jumping-off point. The addition of superstar center Shaquille O'Neal with the first overall pick brought the franchise instant respectability and delivered the club to a new level of competitiveness. DID YOU KNOW? On the strength of its best start ever (8-3), the Magic ended the season's opening month in first place in the Atlantic Division for the first time ever. With Matt Guokas at the helm since 1989, the Magic are the only NBA team that has never made a coaching change. SCORECARD. Guokas earned his 200th career win December 19, 1992, as Orlando beat the Hawks 125-84 for the largest margin of victory in franchise history.

Name that player!

Drafted in first round, 22nd pick, by Milwaukee in 1986... Traded to Indiana in 1987... Finished as leading scorer in Michigan State history with 2,145 points.

The confident leaper from the University of Georgia was originally picked by the Chicago Bulls in the 1992 NBA Draft but was later traded to the Magic for future draft choices. A three-time All-SEC selection, Green is an exceptional athlete who left Georgia as the school's all-time leader in points (2,111), assists (466) and three-pointers (215-for-544, .395).

Embracing a new role in 2022-23, Anthony brought tons of offensive energy off the bench. The guard was one of three players in the league to average at least 13.0 points while making fewer than five starts (minimum 25 games played). The other super subs were Malcolm Brogdon and Malik Monk.
