Bears Card of the Day

Zeke Bratkowski
A fast-improving quarterback, Zeke spent much of last season ironing out the kinks after his hitch in the service. Regarded as a shrewd field general and signal caller, he is just as apt to run as throw. He ran for 83 yards in 1957.

Name that player!

J. C. is a popular fellow with his teammates, but the rest of the N.F.L. does not look at him too kindly. He has ruined the day for many a runner.

The Bears, like their Eastern counterparts suffered defeats in '64. The '63 NFL Champs dropped to 6th place in their division, winning 5 and losing 9 in '64. They led the league with 494 pasting attempts and 282 completed passes.

With soft hands and enough speed to separate from defenders, Ditka landed in Chicago in 1961 and set the football world ablaze, taking his place as the game's best tight end. During a campaign in which he took home Rookie of the Year honors, he topped 1,000 receiving yards and tallied a career-best 12 touchdown grabs.

Back to the Front! Bears card back du jour...

James Dooley
Jim's specialty is latching onto passes and then taking off with them under his arm. He did pretty well at it last year, winding up seventh in the league in receptions and leading the Bears in that department.
