Bears' most explosive receiver, with 18.3-yard career average per catch. Had four touchdown catches in 1988, including scoring plays of 63 yards (Buffalo), 39 (Dallas), and 31 (Detroit). Only Bears rookie to earn starting job in 1987, starting all 12 non-strike games and catching 42-yard touchdown pass against defending Super Bowl-champion Giants. Led team in receiving all four years at SMU and finished career as third-leading receiver in school's history with 147 catches and 14 touchdowns. First-team All-Southwest Conference as senior. Won Texas 100- and 200-meter championships in high school.
Entering the ranks of pro footballers for the first time this year. Attended Ohio State University. Played end in early part of grid career. Shifted to fullback in 1948. Noted as the most outstanding player in Rose Bowl game, Jan. 1, 1950. Was the longest kicker in the Western Conference in 1949. Does construction work in off-season.
